Advanced EMG Biofeedback – Muscle fiber evaluation
Select the ‘Advanced EMG Biofeedback’ exercise from the ‘Neurological’ group.
You can add information such as the patient’s position and the muscle being tested. Then select the EMG channel (the connected one will be highlighted in blue) and the “Muscle fiber assessment test” from evaluation group.
Perform EMG calibration: press the “Start” button. Ask the patient to contract and then relax the muscle. Press the “Stop” button. The test examines all motor units.
In the first phase, fast-twitch fibers are assessed. The patient is asked to perform short contractions. In the second phase, fast-twitch fibers resistant to fatigue are assessed. The patient’s task is to perform and maintain a series of medium-length contractions. In the last phase, the patient has to contract the muscles and maintain a long, thirty-second contraction. This part of the test values slow-twitch fibers.
After completing the exercise, it is possible to analyze it as a whole and its individual sections.
